February is Black History Month & American Heart Month
Welcome to F E B R U A R Y! Boy how January flew by! I hope you were able to set your intentions to set the tone for the new year. Remember to be kind and be aware of how you speak to yourself. Be intentional with your words, there is strength in manifestation.
BLACK HISTORY MONTH was created to focus the attention on the contributions of African Americans and their culture. It honors all Black people from all periods of US history.
The importance of Black History Month is knowing who you are and where you come from. The many people who have paved the way to get us where we are today such as Dr. Martin Luther King jr. Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, Frederick Douglass, and Rosa Parks. As we read today’s news, we hear about the various things taking place such as the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSaints rejecting AP courses on African American studies from schools, or the recent beatings of Tyre Nichols. Various activists have fought for many years to get us where we are today, with the thought of “all people being treated equally” but how far have the recent actions set us back? Are all people created equally? Should AP African American studies be banned from school?
A Message from one of the most influential women of our dance fitness community the beautiful and talented Tanneka Coleman!
"Black this, black that, black when, black how, I was black then and I'm black now, black fist black power, black pain, look like black rain, see our tears turn into spring showers and nourish the rose that grew from the concrete, that's a black flower. ~Ta'Rhonda Jones
Remember, you are the flower that keeps on blooming sis. ~ T. Renee
AMERICAN HEART MONTH
February 3rd is National Wear Red Day. This upcoming Friday, WEAR RED! In your classes or to work, let’s support American Heart Month and dress in red. Take some pictures of you supporting the cause and post them to the VibeOutside Forum page.
As we continue to settle into our next normal, we’re asking women to keep the rhythm going and Be the Beat. Wherever you are at reclaiming your healthy rhythm - keep the beat going – turn up the tempo, set a new goal.
And for American Heart Month this year, we’re rallying everyone in February to: Save A Life. Learn CPR.
Why? Because losing even one woman is too many.
Women who suffer from cardiac arrest outside of a hospital are less likely to receive CPR from bystanders. Be the beat for someone you love. Take the CPR challenge and save lives.
We have so DOPE drops, so be sure to check out the Vibe Store The VIBE Queens Collection has just started to drop! Do not miss out!
